‘Govt planning to remove farmers in the guise of COVID-19 surge,’ says BKU chief

As the country battles against the COVID second wave, Bharatiya Kisan Union chief Gurnam Singh Charuni accused the government of planning to remove farmers protesting at several Delhi borders. The BKU chief claimed that the rise in COVID cases could be used as a pretext to force protesters to retreat. He further warned that if force is used to remove the protesting farmers, the situation could get tense. A representative body of several protesting farmer unions had yesterday revealed that farmers in large numbers have started moving towards Delhi after the harvesting season to intensify the protest against the Centre's new farm laws.
