This Govt-Owned Search Website Fetches Data from ‘Sarkari’ Portals

Currently, most of your online searches are directed towards Google which is universally known to fetch information on anything and everything you’d want to know.

But, what if you were looking for stuff a bit closer to home and something much intricate and detailed?

The Indian government has launched a search portal for all the ’sarkari’ information you’d want to look for online. We checked and found that the website is currently live at

The website/search engine specifically caters to searches related to government portals and all services that come under the umbrella of the Indian government. Most of your searches on the website will re-direct you to links on government portals and other government websites.

There is also an Advanced Search option on the page which helps you create specific searches if required.

But, before you head to the websites there are these two things you should know about:

  1. The website is not HTTPS protocol protected and is classified as an “insecure” website.
  2. The website is still in its beta testing phase.
The website is not protected by https secure protocol.

It is ideal for searches related to passports, pan card, income tax which are also some of the most popular searches on the site.

The website is being maintained by the National Informatics Centre

GOI Search is maintained and managed by the National Informatics Centre (NIC) which is another arm of the Indian government responsible for the overall management of major government websites.

The information on GOI Search is available in 10 different regional languages including Kannada, Punjabi, Marathi, Gujrati, Urdu, Telegu and more.
