Government slams Arvind Kejriwal, says 'Delhi CM does not speak for India'

Controversy over Delhi Chief Minister's assertion of the presence of a new Singapore strain. In a series of tweet and statements, Singapore has rubbished the claims made by Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal of the new strain. In a bid to do damage control and prevent diplomatic fallout from Arvind Kejriwal’s tweet on ‘Singapore variant’ of the novel coronavirus, External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar on Wednesday said that the Delhi Chief Minister ‘does not speak for India’. The strong reactions from the Central government came a day after Aam Aadmi Party leader Kejriwal urged the Centre to ban flights to Singapore, stating that a dangerous variant of coronavirus was circulating in the city-state.
