Government revives tradition of 'Kashmiri Qawali' in valley

The tradition of singing Qawali in the valley of Kashmir is still very popular and holds a special place for the local residents, who listen to it to garner peace. For the people of Kashmir, the fact that the government is now holding Qawali events which is being sung in Kashmiri language is a huge attraction as they feel even more connected to the art. The government is holding special Qawali shows in Srinagar's Tagore Hall to revive the culture and have invited known Qawals such as Athar Hussain Baluri to perform both Kashmiri and Urdu.
