Google Doodle celebrates the start of the Pyeongchang Winter Olympics 2018 with an animated doodle simulating the Games

The Google doodle is like a preview into the Games where a magpie leads the trail in the doodle.

To mark the first day of the Pyeongchang Winter Olympics 2018, being held in South Korea, Google has come up with an animated doodle.

The theme of the Doodle is winter-related in a nod to the Games. The Doodle shows animations with animal characters starting off with a magpie flying atop a frozen Google logo.

This is followed by a series of animations featuring different animals and birds, simulating gaming events that will take place during the Winter Olympics.

The colourful Doodle includes a penguin zooming past the snow on a >bobsleigh. The next preview has a dog ski jumping on colourful snowblades. The last preview has a serpent figure-skating on an ice-ring.

The Doodle ends with the same magpie perched on the branch of a tree.

Dubbed Doodle Snow Games, >according to the Google Doodle blog post, there will be a new doodle everyday, to keep up with the everyday action till 25 February.

Seventeen doodles will be put up on the Google search in total. Sixteen more are yet to come.

The >Winter Olympic Games will take place from 9 February to 25 February 2018.

There will be 92 countries participating in the Games this year. The mascot of the games is Soohorang the Tiger. View More
