New Delhi, Mar 30 (PTI) Transporters body ACOGOA today said that truckers associated with them will proceed on strike from April 1 to protest against hike in third party insurance premium.
“We had submitted our demands to the central government requesting for withdrawing the proposed 50 per cent hike in third party insurance premium and fines proposed in the 2016 MV amended Act,” All India Confederation of Goods Vehicle Owners’ Associations (ACOGOA) said in a statement.
Minister of State for Road Transport and Highways Pon Radhakrishnan on March 28 had called association representatives
assuring “he will write to Insurance Regulatory Development Authority of India (IRDAI) to withhold the proposed third party premium”, it said.
“Unfortunately IRDAI has announced its decision to implement the third party premium hike rates on the same day.
This shows that government is not interested to solve our problems. Hence we are in the All rndia Strike from April 1 as announced earlier,” its President B Channareddy said.
