Will Golmaal Again Help Ajay Devgn Set Off Fireworks At The Box Office This Diwali?
All major festivals in India are booked by the biggies in Bollywood to release their biggest projects of the year and make the most of the holiday season. Fans know they can expect a Salman Khan film during Eid and an Aamir Khan film on Christmas, Akshay Kumar usually takes the Republic Day or Holi weekends. This time during Diwali, we have Ajay Devgn’s Golmaal Again hitting screens on October 20, a day after Aamir’s Secret Superstar releases on October 19.
This is not the first time that Devgn is releasing a film on Diwali. In 2012, his Son Of Sardaar battled Shah Rukh Khan’s Jab Tak Hai Jaan at the box office while in 2016 we saw his Shivaay take on Ranbir Kapoor – Anushka Sharma’s Ae Dil Hai Mushkil. Below is how the film’s fared at the box office individually and as compared to competition.

On Diwali 2017, the stakes aren’t as high as the previous two Diwali clashes. Golmaal Again and Secret Superstar cannot be seen as competing with each other since both the films belong to two different genres. Also, while Rohit Shetty’s film promises an ensemble cast helmed by Ajay Devgn, the latter only has a guest appearance from superstar Khan. Also, considering the kind of love the previous films in the Golmaal franchise have received, Golmaal Again has potential to pull crowd into the theatres. Add to it the fact that the film has got a reboot in terms of the cast and the story that has the spook factor.
This Diwali might just change Ajay Devgn’s luck at the festive season box office and help him set off some fireworks! See you at the other end of the release. Happy Diwali!
