Panaji, Nov 1 (PTI) The Congress will start a campaign opposing rail doubling and highway expansion plans in Goa as these are aimed at converting the coastal state into a coal hub, the party's state unit chief Girish Chodankar said on Sunday.

He told PTI the campaign will be carried out under the #OnlyGoalSayNoToCoal hashtag, and corner meetings would be held to create awareness in people about the environmental damage the two projects would cause.

'Rail doubling and expansion of the highway connecting Goa to Karnataka are to help companies offloading coal at Mormugao Port in Vasco. The Congress has opposed such plans earlier and will continue to do so through this campaign,' he said. PTI RPS BNM BNM
