Panaji, Apr 6 (PTI) The BJP's Goa unit on Tuesday announced that it will take up an extensive drive to encourage people to get vaccinated against coronavirus.

The BJP's state unit president Sadanand Shet Tanavade said party workers will be going to each and every house, encouraging people to visit the government-run health centres for vaccination.

According to the Central government's guidelines, people above the age of 45 are eligible to get the COVID-19 jab.

People are still reluctant to move out and get the vaccine, even as the number of COVID-19 cases are on the rise, Tanavade said.

'The task before our workers is to educate people about the benefits of getting vaccinated. Party workers will be able to do the job very well,' he said.

The awareness campaign will be held till April 14, he said, adding that the party will also continue with the drive after that.

Goa being a small state can cover its entire eligible population in the vaccination drive, he said. PTI RPS ARU ARU
