New Delhi: Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday wished Congress president "best of health for the future" after she was discharged from the All India Institute of Medical Sciences.
"Glad to know that Soniaji's health is fine. Wishing her the best of health for the future," Modi tweeted.
However, expressing concern over Gandhi's health, Modi tweeted further that the UPA chairperson should have been taken to hospital in a well-equipped ambulance.
"Concerned that basic medical emergency procedures were not used. Would have been better if wheelchair or stretcher were used in Parliament," he said.
"Considering her health, Soniaji should have been taken to hospital in a well-equipped ambulance. Still, doctors are best judges," he said.
The Congress President, who was admitted to AIIMS hospital after she was taken ill in the Lok Sabha late on Monday night, was discharged after her check-ups were completed.
The 67-year-old Congress President had left the Lok Sabha while the voting was underway on various amendments related to the Food Security Bill after she complained of exhaustion and mild chest pain.
Gandhi left Parliament at 8:15 p.m. for the hospital, escorted by her son and Congress vice-president Rahul Gandhi. She had complained of chest pains and fever and appeared to stumble as she walked down Parliament steps. She quickly held central minister Kumari Selja's hand and recovered her balance.
According to doctors, she was initially admitted to the Cardio-Neuro centre and later shifted to the ICU as a precautionary measure. Later, she left for home in her own car at 1:30 a.m.
"The Congress President has come back, she is all right and her medical check-up has been completed," said party General Secretary Janardan Dwivedi
Health Minister Ghulam Nabi Azad, fellow ministers Vayalar Ravi, Anand Sharma and Jyotiraditya Scindia, Janardhan Dwivedi, Ahmed Patel, Motilal Vora, Mohsina Kidwai, Delhi Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit and Haryana Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda were among the Congress leaders who had rushed to the hospital to inquire about Sonia's condition.
Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh and Lok Sabha Speaker Meira Kumar also visited the hospital. (ANI)
