Sidharth Malhotra and Jacqueline Fernandez starrer film, A Gentleman‘s songs have gone onto become this year’s chart busters thanks to their peppy and groovy beats. Be it ‘Baat Banjaye‘, ‘Chandralekha‘ or ‘Disco Disco‘–each of them has turned out to be better than the other and has found a way to our playlist. And today, the song, ‘Bandook Meri Laila’ has released and we can’t seem to get over it.

The song has a party vibe to it and is predominantly a hip hop song. However, what sets this song apart from the rest is that it has Sidharth Malhotra rapping the lyrics to this pumped up hip hop track. Yes, Sidharth has joined the list of singers who have already made a singing debut in Bollywood. His rumoured girlfriend, Alia Bhatt, too is one of them.  Listen to the song below, if you haven’t already.

The actor collaborated with singer-composer duo Sachin-Jigar for the track. It was reportedly shot at Shankar Mahadevan’s studio in the suburbs on August 10 and Sidharth apparently just took 3 hours to wrap up the song. Those who were present at the recording felt that Sidharth was a pro at rapping and were mightily impressed with the actor.

A leading tabloid quoted Jigar as saying, “He has a great baritone which is rare in actors. We asked him what kind of music he likes and he said hip hop. Eminem is his favourite rapper. When we asked him to rap for the track, he immediately said yes. It’s a fun song that goes along the lines of, ‘A gun is like my girlfriend and my girlfriend’s as hot as a gun’, which is in sync with Sid’s character.”

Directors, Raj and DK reportedly wanted to add some spice to the song, which is why the song has been given a Haryanvi feel to it. The audience will get to witness Sidharth essay a double role with a twist—playing both characters, Sundar and Susheel Gaurav and Risky Rishi–on August 25, when the film hits screens.
