After furore over Elgar Parishad speech, Sharjeel Usmani booked in Pune

Amidst the chaotic outrage over his speech at the recent Elgar Parishad conclave, Aligarh university alumni Sharjeel Usmani was booked by Pune police for allegedly 'promoting enmity between different groups'. Usmani has been at the eye of the storm over his speech at the event with the opposition BJP in Maharashtra demanding action against him for allegedly 'hurting religious sentiments'. Leader of the opposition in the Maharashtra Assembly, Devendra Fadnavis had earlier written to Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray over his speech demanding action against the former AMU student, alleging him of insulting sentiments of the Hindu community.
