Former SP neta Pandit Singh requests PM Modi to get vaccinated first; Controversy over vaccine begins

Former Samajwadi Party Minister Pandit Singh has requested that Prime Minister Narendra Modi be the first to take the COVID-19 vaccine in the midst of the nationwide rollout of vaccines. Speaking on the sidelines of an event to reporters, Singh said that PM should also take the vaccine shots first, like other world leaders.

This is not the first time this appeal has been made by the Samajwadi Party. The vaccine was previously referred to as 'BJP vaccine' by SP Leader Akhilesh Yadav and criticised the decision to release COVAXIN without Phase-3 trials. He had also said that he was not going to be vaccinated with a 'BJP vaccine.'
