Former Miss World Diana Hayden is Pregnant With Twins From Eggs Frozen Three years Ago

Former Miss World Diana Hayden is pregnant with twins conceived from eggs she froze three years ago. She has a baby girl from an earlier pregnancy.

Former Miss World Diana Hayden who won the title in 1997 is pregnant with twins conceived from eggs she froze three years ago. The 44-year-old model had resorted to freezing her eggs and now she is pregnant with twins. She gave birth to her first child in January 2016, who was similarly conceived from an egg that was frozen eight years ago. Her pregnancies are a testimony to the fact that science has advanced so much that now women can make an informed choice and put a halt to the biological clock. Human oocyte cryopreservation (egg freezing) is a procedure by which a woman can preserve her eggs. The eggs are extracted, frozen and stored at a sub-zero temperature and can be used later. The eggs are thawed, fertilized and transferred to a uterus as an embryo to facilitate pregnancy in a woman. Diana Hayden is pregnant now with eggs that she froze three years ago.

As reported by Times of India, Dr. Nandita Phalshetkar said, “Her pregnancies prove how infertility techniques have improved over the years.” Dr. Hrishikesh Pai, who along with Dr. Phalshetkar, is treating Diana Hayden said, “Egg-freezing is one of the techniques available for women to plan pregnancies later in life. It was technically challenging to freeze eggs until a decade ago, but newer techniques have changed all that.” Diana Hayden said, “IVF doctors are God’s angels to help couples who have any form of difficulty in conceiving. Me being pregnant with twins is fantastic news. We are looking forward to their birth.”

Diana Hayden was 40 when she married American Collin Dick and found out that she was suffering from endometriosis. Endometriosis is a very painful condition in which the inner lining of the uterus or endometrium starts growing outside as well. Women suffering from endometriosis usually do not produce good quality eggs and it was a result of this diagnosis that Diana Hayden decided to thaw her frozen eggs for a test-tube baby. Oocyte Cryopreservation is a godsend for women who want to delay pregnancy or are suffering from some medical condition or just haven’t met the right person to start a family with.
