Former UP minister Gayatri Prajapati's home raided by ED

In the ongoing case, the Compliance Directorate (ED) carried out raids on Wednesday at the residential premises of former Uttar Pradesh cabinet minister Gayatri Prasad Prajapati, his driver and son in connection with the illegal mining scam.

The case relates to the breach of standards between 2012 and 2016 in the granting of mining leases in different districts of the state. On August 4, 2019, ED registered a case against the former minister about the Prevention of Money Laundering Act 2002.

At his Awas Vikas residence in Amethi, ED teams swooped down while another team raided his driver Raja Ram's premises in Amethi district's Tikari town. Meanwhile, the police vigilance establishment has also filed a FIR under the prevention of corruption charges against former cabinet minister Gayatri Prasad Prajapati for owning more property than known sources of income, and last year, CBI also booked a mining scam minister.
