In pictures: Football fever grips our netas

Football is like life: it requires perseverance, self-denial, hard work, sacrifice, dedication and respect for authority. While not all leaders might display these qualities, on Wednesday all Parliamentarians came together to celebrate FIFA’s decision to hold the Under-17 Football World Cup in Kolkata this year.

The lawmakers, as a part of the mass awareness programme launched by Sports Ministry to reach out to 11 million children to create football fever across the country, enthusiastically participated in the event.

In the spirit of the game, former Indian football team captain and Trinamool Congress MP Prasun Banerjee presented Speaker Sumitra Mahajan with a football. Minister of State, Youth Affairs & Sports, Vijay Goel, too, distributed footballs to the MPs.
