First, PDP-BJP need to dismiss ideological differences: JD(U) on Hurriyat strike

Patna (Bihar) [India], Apr. 2 (ANI): Stressing on the tense situation currently prevalent in Jammu and Kashmir after the strike called by the Hurriyat leaders, Janata Dal (United) on Sunday claimed that the need of the hour is for the state government to come to an understanding in order to facilitate changes in the state.

Speaking to ANI here on Saturday, JD(U) leader Rajeev Ranjan stressed that the rift between the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) and the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) needs to be attended to immediately, right from the grassroots level.

“Starting from the grassroots level, the party workers of the aforementioned parties have different ideologies. The situation in the state currently demands serious consideration. Situation is getting very tense,” he said .

“Kashmir is currently going through massive turmoil. This needs to be solved on priority,” Ranjan added.

Earlier, Jammu and Kashmir’s Hurriyat leaders called for strike against the visit of Prime Minister on April 2, who will be visiting the Valley to inaugurate the longest highway tunnel, Chenani-Nashri tunnel.

The tunnel on NH-44 which connects Jammu with Srinagar, will reduce travel time between the two cities by up to two hours. It’s expected to achieve a distance-reduction of 31 km, bypassing snow-bound upper reaches. The estimated daily fuel savings are to the tune of Rs. 27 lakh. (ANI)
