New Delhi, April 2: The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Sunday released the list of BJP candidates contesting the upcoming MCD Elections 2017 and here you can find the list of candidates contesting from South Block. The BJP which has fielded candidates in all the 272 wards of the East, South and North Municipal Corporations, announced that they will contest in alliance with the Akali Dal and the Lok Janshakti Party. The BJP has been in power in the Delhi civic body since the last three consecutive term and hence the question will be if the saffron party will be able to retain power for the fourth consecutive term.
BJP released the names of the 58 candidates who will contest the MCD elections in the South Block scheduled to be held on April 23. Earlier, Delhi BJP chief Manoj Tiwari has said that no sitting councillor will be given tickets for this year’s poll, possibly in an attempt to avoid the impact of anti-incumbancy in the polls. Following their massive win in the Uttar Pradesh, the BJP is holding their breath to claim victory in the MCD Elections as well.
BJP national president Amit Shah announced during a conference at the Ram Leela ground that the party has decided to deploy at least five volunteers in each polling booth to mobilise voters on the day of the poll. As per a few unconfirmed reports, there are also speculations of UP CM Yogi Adityanath being one of the star campaigners during the poll campaigning sessions.
Monday is the last day for filing nomination and as per earlier reports BJP President Amit Shah held a series of meetings with parliamentarians at his residence on Saturday. Reportedly, Delhi BJP chief Manoj Tiwari, RSS and BJP coordinator Mukesh Puniyani, organisational secretary Siddharthan and Delhi BJP in-charge Shyam Jaju were also present in these meeting.
The MCD Elections 2017 will be held on April 23. The results will be out on April 25.
