The shoot of Life OK’s popular comedy show May I Come In Madam? was halted on Sunday, April 2, due a massive explosion on the sets that led to fire. The horrifying incident took place on the sets of May I Come in Madam? at Film City in Goregaon, Mumbai, when high-intensity lights exploded, leading to fire. Actress Neha Pendse, who plays the main character of Sanjana in the show, was quoted by IANS as saying, “Yes, the set caught fire as the lights on the set busted. Luckily, the production team had fire extinguishers on the set, and they put off the fire.” She added, “The shoot was on halt for a couple of hours due to the incident, but thankfully no crew member suffered any burns or injuries.”

Actor Sandeep Anand, who plays the male lead of Sajan Agarwal on May I Come in Madam?, told Mumbai Mirror about the fire, “It was a huge fire but thankfully we had two extinguishers on the set and the fire brigade arrived promptly so no one was injured but there was some loss of property. The huge lights and the curtains caught fire and a major part of the set was engulfed in flames.” He added, “When we realised that the set had caught fire we tried beating out the flames with the two fire extinguishers but they weren’t enough. So then our light department got into action till the fire brigade arrived.”

There have been repeated fire incidents on the sets of Indian television shows in the recent past. These incidents shocked everyone but thankfully no crew member was hurt. The popular family drama show Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai which airs on Star Plus and Sony’s show Beyhadh suffered because of fire on the sets. Recently Sony SAB’s Dil Deke Dekho set was on fire and the entire team had to be evacuated immediately. Before that, a fire broke out on the sets of Prince Narula’s popular show on &TV titled Badho Bahu, which led to an explosion.

The entire set of Comedy Nights with Kapil, the hit show that made comedian Kapil Sharma a star, had caught fire in 2013. The show’s set had to be rebuilt.

The show May I Come In Madam? features Sandeep Anand, Sapna Sikarwar, Neha Pendse and Anup Upadhyay in the lead. Recently, the set of Sanjay Leela Bhansali film Padmavati in Kolhapur was burnt down allegedly by organisations opposing the historical starring Ranveer Singh, Deepika Padukone and Shahid Kapoor.
