Sidhi, Apr 3 (PTI) A fire broke out in the hills of a forested area with human settlement in Madhya Pradesh's Sidhi district on Saturday and no casualties were reported in the blaze, a forest official said.

No one was wounded in the fire that erupted at Bichi- Pater jungle area, about 20 km from the district headquarters, Sidhi divisional forest officer (DFO) MP Singh told PTI.

He denied that some wild animals had perished in the fire and said the human settlement beneath the hills was far from the spot.

The blaze, which swept through 1 km area, is being put out, the DFO said, adding that the cause of the fire is being probed.

'The fire was reported in the morning hours and our men have been on the job to put out the blaze since then. Our priority right now is to douse the flames completely,' the DFO said. PTI LAL ARU ARU
