Finance Ministry announces additional assistance for states; Rs 15K Cr to be provided for infra boost

Amid the ongoing COVID crisis in the country, the Finance Ministry of India has now decided to provide an additional amount of Rs 15,000 Cr to the states. The amount is provided as an interest-free 50-year loan. The department of expenditure has issued new guidelines in this regard. The amount will be spent by the states government on capital projects and is being considered as the Centre's big push to infra in the states. The states will also be getting Rs 5,000 Cr for asset monetization and for disinvestment. The Central government is providing assistance to the states in some kind, which is expected to give a boost.
