One of the largest automobile manufacturers in the world, Fiat Chrysler, has issued a recall for almost 900,000 cars in the US that do not meet the US emission standards according to the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA).
EPA has said that it will continue the investigation on other Fiat vehicles that are non-compliant or may become in the coming future.
The list of cars that have been recalled include the Dodge Journeys (2011-2016), Chrysler 200s (2011-2014) and Dodge Avenger, Dodge Calibers (2011-2012) and the Jeep Compass/Patriots (2011-2016).
The company has said that the customers will still be allowed to drive the cars as due to the large volume of vehicles the alterations to the cars will be made in phases.
Apart from this, trouble is brewing for another automobile maker in a different part of the world.
Turns out, Jaguar Land Rover has also issued a recall of 44,000 cars in the UK over carbon dioxide emissions. Regulators found 10 cars of the company which were not complying with the emission norms.
JLR has said that it is a voluntary recall of certain 2016-2019 MY Jaguar and Land Rover vehicles fitted with 2-litre diesel or petrol engines.
The affected models are the 2-litre 2016 to 2018 Land Rover Discovery and Discovery Sport cars along with some Range Rover Evoque, Sport, and Velar SUVs. Also in the list are the Jaguar E-Pace, F-Pace, F-Type, XE and XF.
A company spokesperson has said that some of the cars will require physical repairs at a dealership, while other will need software updates.
It is unclear if the vehicles sold in India would also need to be recalled. Jeep sells the Compass in India with a 2-litre diesel engine, while Jaguar Land Rover sells its 2-litre petrol and diesel motors in a variety of vehicles from the Discovery Sport to the F-Pace.
