Farmers' tractor rally event takes a violent turn; siege at Red Fort shocks the capital

Unprecedented scenes of violence hit the national capital on Republic Day from the Red Fort to the Nangloi in Northwestern Delhi. Visuals of tear gas shells, lathi charge on protestors, public vehicles being vandalized, stone pelting at the Delhi Police are seen at the sites of the Tractor rally in Delhi.

Thousands of farmers gathered near the Red fort and unfurled their own flag right beside the tricolor.

“Our leaders have captured Delhi over 19 times, it is our place, the police had promised to remove the barricades but did not owe to it and which is why we had to break the barricades and enter the National Capital” claim the farmers.
