Farmers have been protesting against newly-appointed Congress chief Navjot Singh Sidhu as he reached Khatkar Kalan in Punjab. As the term is coming to an end and polls are around the corner, disgruntled farmers reminded the ruling party about the promises made regarding illicit mining mafia, jobs and the support on the farm bills. On talking to the farmers, they said that they have been gathered to remind and question the Congress regime of the unfulfilled promises they had made. The local administration assured the farmers that they will arrange a meeting with Navjot Singh Sidhu. However, due to the violent behaviour of the farmers' extra security was deployed and Navjot Singh Sidhu was immediately escorted from the area.
