Farmers protest demanding regularization for their encroached land

Demanding the policy for regularization of encroached land, thousands of farmers from different parts of the state put up an agitation outside the state government secretariat and demanded to regularise their encroached land under the provisions of Forest Right Act 2006. Their list of demands included a loan waiver, policy to get rid of monkey menace, regularisation of unauthorised buildings under new retention policy and also provide minimum 5 acres of land to landless villagers in the state. The farmers have warned the government of a mass protest across the state if their demands are not fulfilled. The High Court of the state had passed an order in April this year to vacate the encroached land and cut the fruit trees in the encroached land. The farmers are demanding the state government to file a review petition on the High Court's order.
