Farmers' agitation continues; Farmer unions to hold key meetings to discuss Centre's proposal

After yesterday's Centre-farmer meeting brought in partial agreement between the protesting farmers and the central minister, regarding the decriminalization of stubble burning and safeguarding power subsidies, two out of four issues remain on the negotiating table during their final round of talks for the year 2020 as the two sides continue to carry the deadlock on the removal of the three controversial farm reforms and legal guarantee for the Minimum Support Price (MSP) policy.

This round of negotiations was held between the three union ministers and a 41-member representative group of the protesting farmers. Now the Samyukt Kisan Morcha will be meeting today and tomorrow to discuss the government's proposal and issue a response for the same.
