Massive face-off has erupted in the Rajya Sabha over the farm bills. Opposition continues to lash out at the Centre. The two contentious farm sector bills were tabled in Rajya Sabha by Union Minister of Agriculture and Farmer Welfare Narendra Singh Tomar on 20 September amid fierce uproar by Congress-led opposition.
Narendra Singh Tomar said that the bills are historic and will bring a change in the lives of the farmers, and while presenting the agri-sector bills, sought to allay concerns of farmers, saying that the proposed legislations have nothing to do with the minimum support price (MSP). The opposition parties launched a joint offensive at the Centre over the bills and Congress called them “ill-conceived”.
