- TV Line reported that "producers of an established series are toying with the idea of ending the current season with a massive timeline shift."
- Fans think the blind is about Riverdale and they're on board.
There are enough Riverdale theories on the Internet right now to last a lifetime (most of them have to do with Jughead's fate), but this new one may be the most legit, and fans are pretty excited about it.
On Tuesday, TV Line posted a blind item saying that the "producers of an established series are toying with the idea of ending the current season with a massive timeline shift." They said that the time jump would be about five years and would have "enormous implications for a number of the show’s current storylines/characters ahead of next season." The blind ended with a hint (albeit, a bad one): The show is on either ABC, CBS, Fox, NBC or The CW.
Of course, Riverdale fans jumped right on this because it totally sounds like something the writers would do. If they were to do a time jump, they would be following the lead of other iconic teen dramas like One Tree Hill, which jumped ahead four and a half years after their fourth season.
The move would make sense for Riverdale. It would explain the departing of some of the actors who play parents, like Skeet Ulrich and Marisol Nichols, who announced they will not be returning to the show next season. If the core four is now 23, there is less of a need for their parents. It wouldn't be surprising if we see more of the older actors dropping out in the next few weeks.
Are you convinced yet? Twitter is, and they're pretty excited about the possibility of a time jump.

One fan predicted that the central mystery of next season would bring the core four back to Riverdale after college, which is where things will pick back up.
A time jump is the best way to do it. They can’t follow them to a bunch of different schools. There will be a mystery/problem that brings them all back to riverdale after college and the show will continue from there— #Lucy (@365_down) February 24, 2020
Of course, it could be the core three coming back together, considering we don't know the fate of Jughead at this point. That being said, if he does survive this season, I'm hoping for a Bughead wedding is season five.
