Washington, Dec. 10 (ANI): Facebook has reportedly taken its pursuit of artificial intelligence one step forward by setting up a new research laboratory.
In its project, the social networking giant has teamed up with the New York University, whose professor of computer and neural sciences, Yann LeCun said that the new research laboratory is intended to bring about major changes in artificial intelligence.
According to Mashable, Facebook, along with the NYU's Center for Data Science, aim to carry out research in data science, machine learning and artificial intelligence.
The report said that Facebook first formed the AI team, which currently has eight members, in September.
During the company's earnings call in October, Zuckerberg had highlighted that the goal is to use new approaches in AI to help make sense of all the content that people share so that they can generate new insights about the world to answer people's questions.
He further said that in future it would help to build services that are much more natural to interact with and can help solve many more problems than any existing technology today.
The report said that artificial intelligence could help Facebook achieve better results for targeted ads and news feed improvements. (ANI)
