Navi Mumbai: Woman’s Body Found on Footpath With Smashed Head
New Delhi, Feb 20: In yet another shocking incident, a 20-year-woman was strangled to death by her 25-year-old man, whom she had befriended recently on the social networking site ‘Facebook’. The accused Haridas Nirgude who hailed from Nallasopara allegedly strangled the woman Ankita More with a shoe lace at his residence after she reportedly refused to to get physical with him.
After killing More, the accused threw her in the nearby area. The police reached the spot after locals alerted that police that a girl’s body lying on the stairs near Nirgude’s ground-floor flat in the four-storey Taniya Monarch Building in Nalasopara (east). She was taken to a local hospital but was declared brought dead by the doctors.
Speaking to news agency PTI, a police officer said,”Nirgude had called More to his house in Nallasopara. After the victim reached there, he demanded sexual favours and as she refused it, Nirgude killed her.” The deceased cellphone and purse were also found in Nirgude’s flat. The accused was taken into custody and he has confessed the crime, the officer said, adding the process to arrest him was underway. Meanwhile, the woman’s body has been sent for postmortem to ascertain if the girl had been sexually assaulted.
