Exterment proceedings of criminals to be done in 6 months: Goa CM

Panaji, Feb 18 (PTI) Days after the attack on a gangster in Margao city of Goa, Chief Minister Pramod Sawant on Thursday said externment proceedings against all notorious criminals in the state will be completed in the next six months.

Anwar Shaikh, who has cases of assault, kidnapping among other offences to his name, was shot in the knee by three people from a rival gang in Fartoda area on Tuesday.

Speaking to reporters in Margao, Sawant said the police have cracked down on several notorious criminals in the last two years.

'These notorious elements were usually from talukas of Salcette, Tiswadi, Mormugao and Bardez,' the chief minister said.

Externment proceedings against all notorious criminals will be completed in the next six months, he said.

While the police have been acting against such criminals, the proceedings against them should be fast- tracked, he added. PTI RPS ARU ARU
