The new-generation Renault Duster is finally coming to India! Revealed last year, the new Duster sits on the same rugged platform as the current one, but does not share a single body panel with its predecessor. Also, while the new Duster has not grown bigger- retaining its compact size- there is more interior space which has been liberated with clever tweaking of body panels. In terms of styling the new Duster (sold under the Dacia moniker worldwide), retains the simple look of the previous one and follows an evolutionary approach to its design.
The headlamps, grille and the tail-lamps have been reworked while the basic silhouette remains the same. The bigger change is on the inside though, which is where the current Duster was actually feeling dated. There is a new-look dash and a bigger touchscreen infotainment system and more features added in. The space is improved and practicality continues to remain the Duster’s forte.
By the time the new Duster comes (late 2020), BS6 norms would be in force and that means we expect the current set of engines to do duty in their new avatar. Renault will be launching a new Kwid-based MPV in a few months, while the new Duster would be its biggest launch for next year. However, before that the current generation Duster croons out its swansong via an update around April next year. So there you go, the new Duster is coming to India, albeit in a year’s time.
