Ex-IAS officer to probe misconduct charges against bureaucrat

Ahmedabad, Nov 18 (PTI) The Gujarat government onMonday appointed retired IAS officer VS Gadhavi to inquireinto allegations of misconduct against suspended IAS officerGaurav Dahiya, an official said.

Gadhavi will inquire whether allegations againstDahiya, earlier probed by a government-appointed committee,were true and what action needs to be taken in the matter.

The ex-IAS officer has been appointed as the inquiryofficer as part of departmental process to investigate whetherthe allegations of misconduct against Dahiya probed by thecommittee are true, Principal Secretary (Personnel) KamalDayani said.

The state government-appointed panel, in itspreliminary report, had found Dahiya guilty of misconduct,sources said.

Gadhavi had served as the states chief informationcommissioner before retirement from serivce.

The government will decide if further action isrequired to be initiated against the suspended 2010-batchGujarat-cadre IAS officer and whether he should be dismissedfrom service based on the report to be submitted by Gadhavi,the sources said.

Dahiya was suspended by the government on August 14based on the preliminary report submitted by the committeewhich probed allegations of bigamy and cheating levelled by aDelhi-based woman.

Before being suspended, Dahiya was transferred to theGeneral Administration Department as a joint secretary on July22 after the police received the complaint against him.

Before that, he was director of the National RuralHealth Mission in Gujarat.

Dahiya has denied all allegations levelled by thewoman and told the same to the inquirty panel. PTI KA PDRSY RSY
