English Premier League 2017-18: Tottenham’s Harry Kane to Miss Manchester United Clash
New Delhi: Harry Kane scored a brace as Tottenham Hotspur thrashed Liverpool 4-1 at Wembley in an English Premier League fixture on Sunday. Spurs bullied an appalling Liverpool defence and surged to an impressive, emphatic victory that showed they are in the title race.
Kane and Heung-min Son both scored inside 12 minutes as Tottenham marched into a two-goal lead before Mohamed Salah halved the deficit midway through the opening period. Dele Alli had the final say in a thrilling first half before Kane put the final nail in the coffin and scored his second of the match in the 56th minute.
On the other hand, Liverpool are already 12 points behind leaders Manchester City after just nine games and no top-flight side has conceded more away goals than them so far this season. The Reds had kept clean sheets in their last two games against Manchester United and Maribor, but they failed miserably to repeat the same in today’s game.
Meanwhile, the win puts Tottenham level with Manchester United on 20 points, five behind leader Manchester City. As for Liverpool, they fall to ninth place and are already 12 points off the top with just three wins in nine matches to start the season.
