Elon Musk’s Car Takes Wrong Turn Into Space
New Delhi, Feb 8: It appears that Billionaire and Space X owner Elon Musk’s latest experiment of sending a roadster car into space has gone wrong. The car, launched on Feb 5 through a Space X rocket, to Mars took a wrong turn by powerful thrust of engine. It is reportedly leading to asteroid belt beyond the orbit of Mars.
Musk, in a tweet, said that the rocket changed directions soon after One of the bursts of fuel that get burnt off to give it momentum had actually pushed it too hard.
The company is testing the world’s most powerful launching rocket falcon heavy. “Demonstration missions like this one typically carry steel or concrete blocks as mass simulators, but SpaceX decided it would be more worthwhile to launch something fun and without irreplaceable sentimental value: a red Roadster for the red planet. Following launch, Falcon Heavy’s second stage will attempt to place the Roadster into a precessing Earth-Mars elliptical orbit around the sun,” the company had stated in a release.
The company also decided to attach a high-data storage unit containing Isaac Asimov’s science fiction book series, the Foundation Trilogy, and a plaque bearing the names of 6,000 SpaceX employees with the car.
However, company did not appear to be disheartened by the new development. In a statement, it said that the company will be deriving huge data from the demonstration. “It’s important to remember that this mission is a test flight. Even if we do not complete all of the experimental milestones that are being attempted during this test, we will still be gathering critical data throughout the mission. Ultimately, a successful demonstration mission will be measured by the quality of information we can gather to improve the launch vehicle for our existing and future customers,” stated the release.
