Election Commission preps up for local polls

The Nepal Election Commission claims to have completed 90 percent of work for successful commencement of the local elections slated for May 14. The work of printing ballot papers for 75 districts and 14 administrative zones is almost done. It is estimated that nearly 16 million ballot papers will be required for the local polls.The Election Commission is also set to start the voter education program targeting large number of voters across the nation prioritising the remote districts.Nepal has over 14 million eligible voters.However, the government is facing opposition by agitating Madhesh based parties who are demanding amendment in the constitution prior to elections.
