Elected govt will hold no significance: Sisodia on Centre’s amendments in GNCTD Act

New Delhi, Mar 15 (ANI): After central government introduced a bill to amend Government of National Capital Territory of Delhi (GNCTD) Act, Deputy Chief Minister of Delhi Manish Sisodia called the move “unconstitutional and undemocratic” and also said democratically-elected government will hold no significance after its implementation. “BJP-led central government has brought a Bill in Parliament to amend GNCTD Act. It is unconstitutional and undemocratic. Bill says all the authority will be given to LG and democratically-elected government will hold no significance after its implementation. The Bill also says that Delhi government will have to send all the files to the LG for approval...It is an autocratic move. What is the need to hold elections if democratically-elected government, Chief Minister, and ministers have no power?” said Deputy CM Sisodia. Central government introduced the amendment bill on Monday to “further define the responsibilities of the elected government and Lieutenant Governor of Delhi.”
