After the RK Nagar by-polls were cancelled earlier today, Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (AIADMK) leader TTV Dinakaran put the onus on the Centre for the same. He blamed the Election Commission (EC) and the Centre for the polls' cancellation, saying that they didn't want elections to be conducted. AIADMK's Deputy Chief, Dinakaran, was the party's candidate from the politically-crucial RK Nagar assembly. The seat fell vacant after Tamil Nadu's former Chief Minister J. Jayalalithaa's sudden demise in December last year. Nearly two lakh voters are expected to exercise their franchise in this constituency.
