Early Week 6 fantasy pickups: Navigating more injuries

Week 5 Fantasy Football was filled with more unfortunate injuries. Odell Beckham Jr. broke his ankle, Brandon Marshall sprained his and Charles Clay went down early too. Here’s an early look at who to potentially target on the waiver wire.

Note: The Buffalo Bills, Cincinnati Bengals, Dallas Cowboys and Seattle Seahawks are all on byes in Week 6.

Returning from a shoulder injury, Marlon Mack broke out in Week 5 vs. the 49ers. Averaging over 10 yards per carry, the rookie rushed for 91 yards and a score. Clearly, the Colts are planning to limit Frank Gore‘s touches, and the youngster Mack has earned himself more opportunities. Owned in just 6 percent of Yahoo leagues, the South Florida product has a plus matchup at Tennessee next Sunday.

Tied with Pierre Garćon for first in team targets, Marquise Goodwin converted 5 of 11 balls for 116 yards. He won’t draw the Colts every week so don’t regularly expect such an eye-popping stat line. However, in Week 6 he’ll travel to our nation’s capital and face a Washington secondary that will be without CB Josh Norman (ribs). Available in 98 percent of Yahoo leagues, Goodwin offers flex appeal for desperate managers.

With four teams on a bye and injuries to key players, quarterback will be a need for many owners. While Josh McCown isn’t surrounded by heaps of talent, he does have an exploitable matchup this coming weekend. Facing a New England defense that’s allowed over 300 yards to the QB position in all five games this season, the 38-year-old journeyman is a streaming option come Sunday. He’s currently available in over 95 percent of Yahoo leagues.
