Dubai, November 19: Schools in Dubai have given in to the demands made by the parents and decided to drop school pupils homework to allow the student to have a life beyond school. According to a report in The National, three institutions running schools in the emirate, namely Arcadia Education, Taaleem and Ambassador Education, have either ended or considerably reduced the burden of homework on the students.
Also taking into account the fact that often school childrens are helped by their parents in completion of the homework, schools have decided to allocate fixed hours where the students shall do the homework under the supervision of the teachers.
Dubai schools, by saying goodbye to the long tradition of homwork, have joined the list of countries which have decided to part ways with homework culture.
Finland and Bahrain are other countries which have barred their schools from giving homework to school kids. Demands have often been made by education activists to do away with homework in Indian schools as well. However, there is a mixed consensus on the issue of whether homeworks should be given or not in schools in India. Many parents in India believe that homework helps the studebts in honing their skills and mastering the lessons.
