Don't know why Guv not calling single largest party: Pawar Mumbai, Nov 8 (PTI) With the impasse on governmentformation in Maharashtra continuing even a fortnight afterAssembly poll results, NCP chief Sharad Pawar on Friday saidwhy wasn't the governor calling the single largest party.
Pawar said he was not aware why Governor Bhagat SinghKoshyari was not inviting the BJP, which emerged as the singlelargest party winning 105 seats in the October 21 Assemblyelection, to stake claim to form government.
Union minister Ramdas Athawale on Friday met Pawarhere 'to seek his advice' on ending deadlock over governmentformation in Maharashtra.
Speaking to reporters after the meeting, Pawarsuggested the BJP and Shiv Sena through Athawale to respectthe 'clear cut majority' people have given them.
The Shiv Sena won 56 seats, NCP 54 and Congress 44 inthe 288-member House.
Pawar said, 'Such a situation should not prevail in astate like Maharashtra. He (Athawale) asked for advice. Wehave consensus that the people have given the BJP and ShivSena clear cut mandate.' For how long can the President or Governor wait, Pawarsaid, adding they will have to take some decision soon.
'Our advice is you (BJP and Shiv Sena) have themandate. You follow it,' he added.
'I have had close relationship with Pawar Saheb foryears...I came here to take his advice. Pawar's opinion isthat the Shiv Sena and BJP should form government. He asked meto advise the two parties to form government,' Athawale said.
