Don't ask me, ask the govt: Nirbhaya's mother on fresh delay in hanging of convicts

After the Delhi government told Delhi High Court that the hanging of the four convicts in the Dec 16 gang rape case will not held on the scheduled date of January 22 as the execution could take place only 14 days after the rejection of the mercy petition, Nirbhaya's mother Asha Devi said that the system is supporting criminals by delaying the execution. She said, "Either lawyers of the convicts are trying to delay execution or our system is blind and is supporting criminals. I'm struggling since 7 years. Instead of asking me, you should ask the government if convicts will be hanged on Jan 22 or not." On January 14, Mukesh, one of the convicts, filed mercy petition against the death warrant issued against him.
