The Nation wants to know with Padmaja Joshi today talks about GDP figures that the Chief Economic advisor P Subramaniyan has announced. As per the figures, FY 2020-21 has ended negatively, with the Q4 growth at 1.6%. The Q4 farm sector growth is at 3.1%. This has lead to a mega 56% jump in the core sector. The NDA’s take on this is a vision of revival. However, Congress sees it as ruin since the Modi government came to power. Additionally, the Q4 construction sector also saw growth at 14.5%, which brings the GDP growth for FY 2021 at -7.3%. This is being called the worst numbers by the opposition in the past 4 decades. On this, Prof. Arun Kumar, Senior Economist, states regarding the covid impacts on GDP that vaccination is a medium-term solution, we need a short-term solution.
