DMK President M Karunanidhi Admitted in Hospital
Chennai, August 16: DMK President M Karunanidhi was on Wednesday admitted to a hospital in Tamil Nadu’s capital city. The nonagenarian will go an endoscopic procedure at the hospital. The party patriarch has not been keeping well and has been skipping public functions for the last 10 months.
The DMK leader could not cast his vote in Presidential Election on July 17 due to ill health. The 94-year-old even skipped his birthday celebration due to health issues. Last year, Karunanidhi was advised by a private hospital to rest after he developed allergy with the medicines he was taking. Since then, he has been recuperating at his home in Chennai.
Despite being unwell for a long time now, he has not announced his formal retirement from active politics. His son and heir-apparent, MK Stalin is looking after political affairs in Tamil Nadu. He is the working president of the party and has come out of his father’s shadows. During Palaniswamy’s trust vote, he was instrumental in creating all the ruckus in the assembly.
