DMK's vellore candidate urges EC to revise order
For the first time in the history of Indian politics, the election to a Lok Sabha constituency got cancelled. The poll to Vellore constituency in Tamil Nadu was cancelled by President Ram Nath Kovind on Tuesday based on the recommendation by the EC.
The EC, in its report, alleged cash being used for voting in Vellore. Announcing the poll cancellation, an official statement said, 'Accepting the recommendation by the EC, the President has rescinded the poll to Vellore constituency in Tamil Nadu.'
The decision didn't go well with the DMK, which is being alleged of distributing cash in the parliamentary constituency. DMK's Kathir Anand, who is contesting from Vellore, has sent a notice to the EC demanding that the poll be conducted as per schedule or legal action will be taken.
In his letter to Chief Election Commissioner Sunil Arora, Kathir wrote the polls must be conducted as there were no incriminating documents or unaccounted money that were found from his house or his mother's residence.'
