Rooney provides timely reminder of United worth

Wayne Rooney provided a timely reminder to Manchester United manager Louis van Gaal that he can be a prolific Premier League goalscorer after he netted a brace in a 2-0 win against Sunderland to help United go third. Van Gaal restored Rooney to an advanced position after trialing him in a number of positions across United's midfield -- to accommodate misfiring pair Robin van Persie and Radamel Falcao -- in the last two months. On Friday, Van Gaal attributed United's struggles this season to …

Man United missing '20-goal striker', says Van Gaal

Manchester United manager Louis van Gaal says his expensively assembled squad has not challenged for the Premier League title this season because they do not have a prolific striker like their rivals. Despite spending more than 150 million pounds ($231.48 million) in the close season, including a six-million pound season-long loan deal for Colombia striker Radamel Falcao, United have looked uncharacteristically subdued when going forward during the campaign. Van Gaal has come under scrutiny …

Washington, Nov. 12 (ANI): The Director of National Intelligence James Clapper urged CIA Director David Petraeus to resign after being notified by the FBI of his involvement in an extramarital affair, US officials have confirmed.

Petraeus' name initially surfaced after a Tampa woman contacted the FBI for receiving a number of anonymous 'harassing emails', which apparently referenced the CIA director.

Federal agents quickly traced the emails back to Petraeus' biographer, Paula Broadwell, and further investigation revealed evidence of an extramarital affair between them.

Law enforcement sources said the FBI did not alert congressional intelligence committees of the investigation since it was determined the affair was a private drama and not a matter of national security, CBS News reports.

According to report, Broadwell and Petraeus, each married and with two children, spent time together in Afghanistan, when Petraeus commanded forces there and Broadwell was conducting research for her book 'All In: The Education of General David Petraeus'.

The emails that prompted the initial investigation indicated that Broadwell may have viewed the Tampa woman as a rival for Petraeus' attention, the report said.

In his resignation letter to the CIA, Petraeus confessed a moral falling, saying he used 'extremely poor judgment' which was 'unacceptable, both as a husband and as the leader of an organization such as ours'. (ANI)
