Diego Costa reaches 50 Premier League goals for Chelsea in win over Southampton

Chelsea striker Diego Costa says he has been told by manager Antonio Conte that he is no longer in the club's plans.

Chelsea striker Diego Costa on Wednesday scored 50 Premier League goals for Chelsea. With this haul, he is the eighth quickest player in the division’s history to reach that milestone.

The Spain international scored Chelsea’s third and fourth goals in their 4-2 victory over Southampton at Stamford Bridge.

But while Costa has been beaten in the race to 50 goals by the likes of Ruud van Nistelrooy, Sergio Aguero and Thierry Henry, the Chelsea striker has managed to reach the feat in one game fewer than former Liverpool striker Luis Suarez.

Top of that table is the former Newcastle and Manchester United goal machine Andrew Cole, who needed just 65 matches to reach the 50-goal mark.

United forward, Dutchman Ruud van Nistelrooy, needed 68 games to reach his half-century, while Fernando Torres took 72 games to do it at Liverpool.
