20 Jun 2018: Dhoni's wife Sakshi seeks arms license citing 'threat to life'
Former Indian cricket captain MS Dhoni's wife Sakshi has alleged 'threat to life,' and sought permission to carry a pistol or 0.32 revolver.
For most of the day, she remains alone, whether at home or while doing chores outside, and so needs protection, she wrote in her arms license application.
No issues have been found with her application yet, reports said. Processing is underway.
Fact: The cricketer's application was initially declined
The cricketer applied for an arms license more than 10 years ago, in 2006. Initially, it was turned down. In 2010, he was finally allowed a 9mm pistol after submitting a character certificate to the Ranchi district administration, which it sent to the Center for approval.
Video: Dhoni's shooting skills garnered much applause
Last year, a video of Dhoni shooting at the Kolkata Police Range went viral.
Posting the video on Facebook, Kolkata Police wrote: "The great MS Dhoni takes some time off to practice his shooting skills at our state-of-the-art shooting range at Police Training School."
The cricketer, who shot both in the 10m and 25 ranges, is an "extraordinary marksman," a top official apparently said.
