A district level coordination meeting between Dhanbad police and Federation of Dhanbad Zilla Chamber of Commerce was held at the Bank More police station on Sunday.
The meeting was chaired by DSP (law and order) Amit Kumar. Several issues including effective patrolling of streets inaccessible to four wheelers, keeping tabs on bikers and preventing consumption of liquor at public places were discussed.
The meeting was attended by Federation of Dhanbad Zilla Chamber of Commerce president Rajiv Sharma, general secretary Rajeev Sharma, president of Bank More Chamber of Commerce Chetan Goenka, secretary of Motor Dealers Association Sanjay Lodha, Bank More inspector P.R. Sharma and officer in-charge of Bank More police station Shiv Shankar Tiwari.
The need to establish police and chamber of commerce coordination committees in each of the 52 police stations of the district was also discussed.
Notably, Dhanbad superintendent of police Ravi Kant Dhan had instructed setting up of coordination committees in each of the 52 police stations of the district last year, but so far, it has been established in only urban police stations like Dhanbad, Bank More, Jharia, Dhansar, Saraidhela etc.
Speaking about the meeting, the DSP said: "We have provided the phone numbers of each tiger mobile force unit to members of the chamber of commerce so that they can be contacted when required."
"Officers of the concerned police station can also be contacted," Kumar said, adding that effective patrolling of sensitive areas would be ensured through tiger mobile force jawans.
Rajiv Sharma said they also expressed concern over the presence of liquor shops in busy areas like markets and drinking of liquor openly at public places and resultant hooliganism.
Over the demand for keeping a strict eye on gangs of bikers hovering near commercial institutions and shops and banks the police officers assured deployment of personnel at vulnerable spots.
