Amidst the restrictions imposed on ground due to the second wave of the COVID-19 pandemic, a family from Madurai decided to take 161 people on an aircraft in order to conduct a wedding ceremony. None of the people present in the Spicejet aircraft were wearing masks or following social distancing norms. The DGCA has taken note of this event and has suspended the crew present in the aircraft. It has also started an enquiry and has directed the airline to lodge a complaint against all those who were not following COVID-19 norms.
